Feature Proposal: Icon bullet lists

Sometimes it is handy to have nice looking bullets with icons instead of plain bullets. The RenderListPlugin and the TreeBrowserPlugin already support bullets with icons, indicated with * icon:<url> Bullet text. This proposal brings the feature into the core.

Description and Documentation

Unordered bullets can optionally be rendered with an icon. Example:

   * Normal bullet list item
   * icon:person List item with "person" icon instead of bullet (can be in same list)

The icon name can be any of the TWikiDocGraphics icons.

   * This has a normal bullet
   * icon:person [[%USERSWEB%.UserList][Users]]
   * icon:group [[%USERSWEB%.TWikiGroups][Groups]]
   * icon:notify [[%BASEWEB%.WebNotify][Notifications]]
   * icon:empty This is an empty bullet

Renders as: (simulated)

Alternatively, a longer syntax could be this:

The advantage is that icons can be specified that are not in the TWikiDocGraphics library. Which syntax is better? I prefer the shorter one as proposed.

This is now accepted after 7 days feedback period.

This is now implemented in SVN trunk. TWikiEditingShorthand doc is updated as well.

TWiki.org TWiki is patched as well. Test:

   * icon:tip Icon list
      * icon:led-red Full
      * icon:led-green OK
   * icon:unchecked Item 1
   * icon:checked Item 2
   * icon:empty No bullet
  • Icon list
    • Full
    • OK
  • Item 1
  • Item 2
  • No bullet
