Attach Document Directly From URL

In our team, we often find publications on the www, and I encourage everybody to attach all interesting stuff to the TWiki website, but right now, it involves some work: first download it locally to your hdd, then attach and upload again.

My suggestion is: could it be possible to type an url path directly in the attach page, so you can upload the document directly to TWiki? This would be convenient.

I like the idea; added REQ form data -- MattWilkie - 08 Feb 2005

Groove allows a user to do this too. Its very useful.

Further, if you store the URL in the comment field the user can go back and get it.

Didn't someone write a plugin that cached urls?

URLCachePlugin except that it only caches the first time. You kinda want it to look for changes and check-in the new version when you press something.

That would be URLCachePlugin.

Marking this as ImplementedAsExtension

Konqueror is AFAIK the only browser which allows urls to be uploaded, anywhere you've got a file upload.
